Breakfast is definitely the meal I struggle with the most. I’ve never been a regular breakfast eater and would be more likely to skip straight to lunch or have brunch instead.

Over the years I have tried to get better at eating breakfast and I am much better but I still do need something to excite me to get me ready to eat in the mornings. I will never be someone who eats the same breakfast day in, day out, that just terrifies me.

So, I invented this breakfast as a healthy bowl of filling oatmeal porridge with extra taste sensations to make it super attractive to eat, especially on a frosty morning. Making breakfast taste like dessert (but without the calories, fat and sugar) is a sure fire way to get anyone to dream about breakfast, right?!

It sure works for me!

Have your brekkie taste like a jaffa cake, with antioxidant rich cocoa and fragrant orange zest and a generous scattering of fresh orange. It does double duty to keep you full ’til lunch and also satisfies any cravings to prevent you reaching for the cookie jar mid morning.

The thing I love most about the butter knives and dessert spoons are that they are true vintage and you don’t know what design you will get! You can however choose a plain or ornate design and you can personalise with 30 characters for the knife or 50 for the spoon – more than enough to write a special message to a loved one or write a name or occasion.

The wooden spoon they offer for just £7.99 is made from sustainably sourced beech wood and can be engraved with up to 60 characters across three lines. It is superb quality and unlike every other wooden spoon I have owned, it is smooth and carefully crafted, with not a single rough edge or splinter in sight.

Lovely idea with the custom engraving.

As for breakfast recipes, I make a granola mix with looooots of nuts and seeds, crushed and caramellised with xylitol for a little extra sweetness, and then vamped up with either matcha tea, or fruit powders for colour and of course health perks.

Lately, I’ve been bingeing on chia-cacao pudding with coconut topping, and no sweeteners whatsoever. Sooooo good! Also, it makes itself overnight, which is a huge win in my “not a morning person”-book 🙂
