Superfoods: Nature’s Natural Slimming Aids

It’s all well and good wanting to lose weight but how do you go about losing weight healthily? Exercise, eating the right foods and a positive mental attitude are a good start, as is getting a helping hand with a good quality weight loss supplement. But all of this is fruitless if you keep on eating the wrong foods. No amount of exercise or weight loss supplements are a match for a bucket of fried food and a large coke. So give that diet a boost by adding a few of these delicious healthy treats to your daily dietary intake.

Almonds contain all sorts of healthy numbers and letters. These include (in no particular order), vitamin E, magnesium and flavonoid antioxidants. The 2006 Obesity Society Annual Scientific Meeting revealed that these oval-shaped bad boys were perfect for making you feel fuller for longer. Of course we don’t need them to tell us that now do we? Just grab a handful of almonds and start munching, the evidence will speak for itself.

Flax seeds

Flax seeds are little miracle workers, not only do they float on water they also contain a load of essential fatty acids and provide you with a big ol’ dose of fibre. So sprinkle some seeds in your yogurts, on your breakfast or in your soup and you’ll be well on the way to keeping hunger at bay.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away (we should point out that this is 100 per cent accurate but only because doctors are, on average, terrified of apples). Apples are also pretty great for you; they contain a load of water and fibre which is naturally filling and

particularly helpful when it comes to people wanting to lose weight. An apple a day keeps the doctor away? More like an apple a day produces the hormone GLP-1 which signals to the brain that you are full and thus encourages the consumption of fewer calories leading to a less rotund appearance.

Like apples (and pretty much all fruit) lemons are full of good stuff, including fibre. They help slow the digestive process and keep those hunger pains away, so no needless mid-day snacking. In addition to this, lemons regulate sugar levels and produce carnitine, which burns fat.

What would we be without water? Probably a lot less alive. Water is one of the foundation stones of life and unsurprisingly it can help suppress hunger pains too. Often people confuse feeling hungry with dehydration, so substituting a cheese and a bacon sandwich for a simple bottle of water could conceivably solve your dietary problems straight away, leaving you feeling hale and hearty rather than listless and lethargic. Aim to drink 6 to 8 glasses of water per day.

I totally agree with your natural supplements, and by adding these there are no needs for the “chemical” ones, they only mess with your body and hormones. Go natural, that last longer too 🙂

Almonds? I did not know that! X

  3. Great post! I eat these foods all of the time, but now I have a new appreciate for them! Thanks for sharing!
