DIY Natural and Delicious Sugar Body Scrubs and Printable Label

It’s that time of year when I start thinking of all the homemade, kind and natural homemade gifts I can make for Christmas. With my 2 big sisters’ birthdays in October, it was the perfect opportunity to do some recipe testing!

Sugar scrubs are the one of the most easy homemade gifts to make, yet a beautiful gift that is indulgent and special for the receiver. For a basic scrub you simply need 2 ingredients, oil and sugar, but I like to add in some extra little luxuries to make the scrub smell good enough to eat and leaving your skin extra soft and vibrant.

In the coconut and lime scrub, coconut flour adds extra gentle exfoliating properties and adds to the delicious coconut fragrance. In the cinnamon spice latte scrub, the coffee granules add gentle exfoliation and along with the spices, make the scrub smell good enough to drink and warm you up on a chilly evening.

Coconut and Lime Sugar Scrub:

Ingredients: Makes about 1 cup (250ml)

  • 60ml/1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 200g/1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp coconut flour
  • 8 drops of lime pure essential oil

  1. Mix together the sugar and oil until fully incorporated.
  2. Stir in the coconut flour and essential oil.
  3. Transfer to an airtight jar, seal and label.

I used the printable label from Our Best BitesΒ to label this scrub.

  2. beautycalyptique says:

love both recipes. though I’m always a bit insecure about DIYing such edible cosmetics for presents because I have *no idea* how long it would last in a bathroom. any data yet? πŸ™‚

    • Poppy says:

Thank you! I’ve had mine in my on my shower shelf for a good few months and it hadn’t turned rancid or anything, still as good as when I first made it πŸ˜€ oil and sugar aren’t very perishable so it keeps pretty well!

      • beautycalyptique says:

cool. I will try and make a batch of mini-sized goodies, and see how people will get along πŸ™‚

I’ve never attempted to make homemade beauty products, and now I realize “why not?!”
These are definitely on my to-do list as soon as I’m back home from my mini vacation πŸ™‚

  11. You are so creative Poppy! What a great Christmas gift idea. And the kitty looking through the hole in the box photo made me laugh – so cute!! πŸ™‚

    • Poppy says:

Hehe..he’s so funny, he loves boxes so much!!
Thank you! They’re great for some personal pampering too! I love to add them to a hamper of homemade goodies and make it personal to the recipient! πŸ™‚

  12. sophiazerg says:

I love this idea! I’m definitely going to use it…currently trying to think of inexpensive and thoughtful gifts, as $$ is quite tight!
Love the photos, the two kitties snuggling, can I just join right in there!? πŸ™‚

    • Poppy says:

Of course you can join in, I always do! I’m spooning with the boy kitty as I write on my phone! (He’s the one with pink nose, nicknamed Tiger Pants!)
Like you I’m watching the purse this year and always find homemade gifts well received and so much fun! I start collecting jars and bottles etc early and any other fun containers I find! I make little hampers up in round baskets I buy in bulk on Amazon wrapped in florists cellophane. I do a mix if food like cookies and truffles, infused oils (I dried my chilli crop from the summer to make oils) with sugar scrubs and homemade soap etc. πŸ™‚

      • sophiazerg says:

Ah, so cute!!! Tiger Pants πŸ˜‰
I am so happy you shared these amazing ideas, I’m going homemade this year! Like I said, I’m watching my money as it’s been a tight year, and besides, it was my father-in-law’s birthday last weekend….everyone bought him a gift, which he responded with a ‘wow’ and no emotion. I gave him a box of homemade vegan cookies, and he was ecstatic. Hehehe, homemade for the win!

      • Poppy says:

Definitely homemade for the win! And you should label it ‘scrummy’ for an extra wow factor!! I’m doing candles, bath bombs and all sorts this year – the homemade possibilities are endless so have fun!

Yes, but as you can imagine, on a daily basis, Tiger Pants has become shortened to just ‘Pants’ and I’m sure my neighbours think I’m really really weird standing at the back door calling ‘paaannttss, paaannntttss’ in a soft, high pitched kitty calling voice!! Haha!

  13. What a wonderful idea! And delicious scents. So great!

  14. debbeedoodles says:

I bet my husband would like the cinnamon one. πŸ™‚

  15. I didn’t realise they were so easy to make! I got a wonderful lemongrass and calendula sugar scrub as a present and loved it. Now I’m tempted to try this myself. Thanks for sharing a lovely idea.

    • Poppy says:

Ooh lemongrass and calendula sounds wonderful and refreshing! You definitely should give them a go! You as a receiver yourself know how much people love to get them as presents!! πŸ˜€

  16. These body scrubs sound great! Definitely perfect as gifts πŸ˜€ Thanks for sharing!

    • Poppy says:

Thank you! I love how versatile they are so you can make up a big plain bath then separate and scent it as you wish personal to the likes of the recipient! It always brings a smile to peoples faces! πŸ˜€

  17. sil says:
